Summary:

John Sheppard and Jeannie McKay Miller must complete a road trip over Route 66 in order to collect on an inheritance from a distant relative. John and Jeannie become friends but are glad that they will be going separate ways at the end. A small vehicle accident means they are stranded two days before the end of the journey and Jeannie's brother Rodney comes, grumbling and complaining, to pick them up and take them to the end of the trip.

 

Notes:

The original prompt, that I don't remember where it came from is: A twist on the 'must travel together for X reasons and fall in love' where, at best, they fall in 'like' and then one finds their soul mate as a relative of the other.
